Después de muchos rumores e información filtrada finalmente ayer en la noche Samsung presento su nueva línea de tablets Galaxy Tab S. Esta nueva línea guarda en el apartado de los specs mucha similitud con la línea Tab Pro, pero su diferencia principal y la más importante es el uso de una pantalla Amoled. Las pantallas Amoled han sido desde su lanzamiento un punto de venta muy fuerte para Samsung en el apartado de los teléfonos, mientras que en el área de las tablets ha estado ausente por mucho tiempo.
Con esta nueva línea las pantallas Amoled vuelven a las tablets en lo que podemos considerar son las tablets que vienen a marcar un nuevo estándar para lo que deben ser las tablets de gama alta de aquí en adelante. Tenemos dos versiones de la Galaxy Tab S, una de 8.4 pulgadas y otra de 10.5 pulgadas. Ambas cuentan con especificaciones similares, siendo su pantalla la única diferencia real. Ambas cuentan con el mismo diseño típico de Samsung aunque la parte trasera tiene el mismo diseño introducido en el Galaxy S5.
Dentro de las características más sobresalientes se encuentra la resolución de estas pantallas, la cual es 2560 x 1600 en ambos tamaños. También otro aspecto a presumir es que las mismas tienen un espesor de 6.6mm, siendo así más delgadas que el iPad Air. Ambas cuentan también con una cámara trasera de 8MP y una frontal de 2.1MP. Otras especificaciones incluyen 3GB de memoria RAM en ambos modelos y lector de huellas dactilares. La batería que veremos en la Galaxy Tab S 8.4 es de 4900mAh mientras que el modelo de 10.5 contara con una impresionante batería de 7900mAh.
Esta nueva línea estará disponible en dos versiones de cada una, un modelo Wifi y uno Wifi y LTE, este último permite hacer/responder llamadas. En el apartado de los procesadores se espera que varíen por mercado, se espera que el modelo Wifi cuente con un procesador Exynos 5 de 8 núcleos, mientras que la variante Wifi/LTE vendrá equipada con un Snapdragon 800 @ 2.3GHz. En el área de Software vendrán equipadas con Android 4.4.2 KitKat junto con toda la cantidad de funciones que vemos en el custom Skin de Samsung.
Los precios para las mismas es de 399 y 499 por el modelo Wifi de 16GB en tamaños 8.4 y 10.5 respectivamente. Mientras que los modelos Wifi/LTE los veremos más adelante en algunas suplidoras de servicio como At&t y Verizon.
